BLE is a professional engineering and environmental consulting firm practicing in the areas of geotechnical and construction material engineering and testing, and environmental assessment. We have offices in South Carolina and North Carolina and work on projects throughout the Southeastern United States. We offer excellent company benefits and a competitive salary. This position is entry level with opportunity for professional and technical growth. Work will be performed under the direction and review of our team of senior, registered professional engineers.

Responsibilities: The individual's primary responsibility is to provide environmental compliance assistance to various industries and municipalities. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with the development and preparation of environmental plans, permits, construction permit applications, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater compliance for various industrial and municipal clients.
  • Provide on-site environmental compliance inspections across environmental media (e.g. air, waste, and water) in support of various clients.
  • Assist with the management of hazardous waste, including waste characterization, inspections, record retention, report preparation, and correspondence with regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with the preparation of threshold/release calculations in support of Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting for multiple industries.
  • Assist with the development, preparation, and management of Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), to include facility inspections and sampling.
  • Participate in environmental compliance audits and assist with the preparation of reports describing suggested corrective actions to demonstrate compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical proposals and participate in marketing events with existing and potential clients.
  • Develop knowledge of EPA and other federal, state, and local environmental regulatory compliance regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with environmental regulatory agencies.


Position Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or other science-related field. Will also consider commensurate combination of education and experience.
  • 0-5 years in the field of environmental regulatory compliance and/or environmental health and safety.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with the ability and desire to lead tasks.
  • May include work in warm, cool, dark, or wet environments, including the collection of samples in these conditions.
  • Travel for field work required locally and throughout the Southeastern United States. Overnight travel 5%.
  • Be motivated, outgoing, and have the ability to interact with people within various different industry settings.
  • Basic knowledge in the operation of smart phones and computers for communication and recording time worked.
  • Required to lift objects of up to 25 lbs.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to authorize our review of a motor vehicle driving record for the past 5 years.
