Opportunity Summary
Abt Associates is seeking a Technical Program Officer (TPO) to support the USAID-funded LHSS Regional Latin America and Caribbean Activity and the Peru country program. The TPO will provide ongoing and timely support to the technical teams based in Peru and the Dominican Republic in the development of key deliverables and external communication products, serve as technical point person within the home office project support team, support work planning and reporting, management of technical activities, and support other operational/administrative tasks, as needed. This position reports to the US-based Country Manager.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Support planning and management of technical products and work plans.
- Assist with the development of technical deliverables, including writing, editing and formatting of work plans, annual/quarterly reports, and other technical documents
- Provide day-to-day support to field teams to implement project activities following the approved work plan and timeline
- Contributes to project communications, including drafting success stories, preparing internal and external presentations, and addressing internal requests for information about the project
- Supports desk research and literature review needs for technical deliverables and technical products/reports as needed
- Organizes and participates in weekly team meetings, and occasional meetings with USAID, takes notes and disseminates them after the call
- Maintains technical folders in the shared drive, deliverables trackers, and project shared drives updated
- Submit approved project documents to the Development Exchange Clearinghouse
- Support project reputational capital activities (presentations, abstract development, impact reports, etc.) as needed
Preferred Qualifications/Pre-requisites
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of relevant work experience or master's degree in project management, international development, NGOs, public health, or another relevant field
- Strong writing and oral presentation skills
- Experience conducting literature reviews and desk-research
- Previous experience working on USAID-funded projects highly desirable
- Previous experience project management, drafting work plans, quarterly reports, and/or technical documents preferred
- Advanced Spanish skills required
- Familiarity with the Latin American Region, HIV, and/or migration issues highly desirable
- Experience or education in global health or international development preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree + Two years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree
