A Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Sciences or other related field or equivalent is required in addition to five years of relevant experience. Microbiology background is essential. A combination of post-graduate education and fewer than the required years of experience may be considered.

Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary in order to work with medical staff, senior management staff, peers within the laboratory and outside of the department.

Proficient organizational and problem solving skills are necessary to develop and implement efficient work processes.

Must be able to develop project timelines and associated milestones, and perform mathematical and statistical operations for recording and evaluating test results.

Attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions accurately is essential.
