We are currently seeking a Study Director - Biologist II This position located in Aberdeen, MD.
JOB SUMMARY
  • Perform advanced biological experiments, research, and analysis
  • Provide technical and project leadership over in vitro studies
  • Use a hands-on approach to solving technical problems and have the ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Evaluate and review raw data and study analytical reports and assay validation reports, as appropriate
  • Perform work with a consistently high degree of accuracy and attention to detail including meticulous work habits and neat, accurate, legible record keeping
  • Write proposals, contributing scientist reports, and study-specific final reports
  • Ability to produce and present quality scientific papers at external meetings and for publication
  • Train and mentor junior staff
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years+ related experience OR Master's OR PhD.
  • Knowledge of wide range of microbiological, immunological, and biologically-based analytical techniques to include problem solving and reporting (e.g., immunoassays, ELISA, PCR, etc.)
  • A proven ability to plan and execute research studies
  • The ability to follow standard laboratory operating procedures and health and safety guidelines
  • Ability to read and understand RFPs, SOWs, and protocols
  • Able to work in a highly-matrixed, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse population of researchers
  • Display an interest in developing job skills and in gaining additional expertise through training
  • Applicants for this position must be a U.S. person, as defined by U.S. export control laws.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DoJ Security Risk Assessment (SRA) approval
  • Ability to obtain/maintain CDC Select Agent Program approval
  • Must be willing to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) and/or 3 (BSL3) environment and able to wear appropriate respiratory protection
  • Must be willing to be immunized with licensed and FDA approved Investigational New Drugs (IND) recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposure of biological agents
  • Must be willing to participate in periodic drug screening
  • Applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person, as defined by U.S. export control laws.
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED
  • Previous experience in one of more of the following areas: eukaryotic cell culture, aseptic technique, ELISAs, PCR, bioanalytical assays, or microbiology
  • Previous experience generally obtained through work history in a BSL2 and/or BSL3 laboratory and able to wear appropriate respiratory protection.
  • Quality management experience (GLP)
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office desired
