How will you make an impact?
The Senior Director/General Manager, Cell Culture Ecosystem will be responsible for product line strategy and day-to-day execution of a $350M business in Cell Culture Media and Plastics. Cell Culture Ecosystem has a broad reagent portfolio supporting research, drug discovery and production, with a global footprint with 10 manufacturing sites across NA, EMEA, and Asia. This position will lead global portfolio strategies, drive innovative solutions to customer issues, provide market leadership in the development of innovative products, and lead day-to-day operations for growth and profitability.
What will you do?
- Develop long-range product strategies and guide fiscal planning for future positioning, growth, and evolution of the product platform. This includes identifying, establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with customers, suppliers and industry opinion leaders. The Product Management Leader is ultimately responsible for revenue, margin, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives.
- Serve as product champion with internal partners, regional teams, and directly with key accounts. An effective performer will maintain close interaction with field organization (e.g., sales and technical support) through training and active participation in the sales process, including customer visits, pricing tactics, and customer support.
- Champion successful launches through requirements, development, and commercialization. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Product Management Leader is responsible for the ultimate customer and financial success of new product introductions (NPIs).
- Lead the life cycle of the existing product portfolio. Responsibilities include three-year product line strategies, pricing /margin optimization, management across the customer value continuum, and customer intimacy efforts.
- Lead a robust business team by hiring, developing and engaging talented and motivated employees.
- The Product Management Leader will contribute to the Cell Biology leadership team, driving collaboration to ensure achievement of growth targets. This role will also work collaboratively with other business and functional stakeholders across the Thermo Fisher organization
How will you get here?
- 7-10 years of experience in strategic marketing and product management
- 5+ years of people management and business leadership
- Deep understanding of the life sciences market and proven ability to set strategic direction for new/high growth business.
- Exhibit strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Consistent track record of proactively driving programs forward with a focus on financial results
- Demonstrated ability to drive growth through product innovation
- Ability to build, manage, and inspire teams across a matrixed environment; effective at influencing others and forming relationships; collaborative approach
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to quickly to adjust to changes in the market as needed
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- MBA and/or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
- Commercial experience preferred.
- MS or PhD in life science research field beneficial
- Experience working in regulated environment beneficial
- Ability to travel up to 30% both domestically and internationally.
