Environmental Health & Safety Manager Description

Our client in the environmental consulting industry is looking for Environmental Health & Safety Manager to add to their team near Detroit, MI. The primary responsibility of this new role will be to develop and implement workplace safety and health policies and programs. You will also conduct site inspections and provide training to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for employees and clients. Our client is looking for someone with experience in environmental consulting and field services or environmental health and safety training in pre-construction site evaluation. Ideal candidates will possess extensive knowledge in environmental policies and regulations, with knowledge of the technology and equipment used for environmental site inspections. To be successful in the role, you must be comfortable speaking in front of a group and possess a valid driver's license. Environmental Health & Safety Manager Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures
• Routinely audit field work activities and inspect job sites to identify risks
• Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections
• Monitor organizational safety policy compliance; prepare inspection reports to document findings
• Evaluate safety training needs to create and deliver training development plans
• Provide safety training to internal staff and external clients
• Ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible
• Provide records of discharge of, or employee exposure to, hazardous waste and/or pollutants
• Conduct hazardous materials inventory and release reporting
• Maintain vehicle and equipment inventory with maintenance records
• Review current Federal, State and/or local regulations and industry specific information to maintain knowledge of industry standards

Environmental Health & Safety Manager Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• 3+ years of environmental consulting/pre-construction site evaluation experience required
• Field services (phase II, LUST, remediation or vapor intrusion) experience preferred
• 2+ years of environmental health and safety training experience required
• Knowledgeable in environmental inspection technology and equipment required
• Proficient in MS Office software required
• Compliance audit experience preferred
• Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 training preferred
• Valid driver's license required
• Willingness to travel, mostly local, up to 20%
