Overview:
The EcoHost position staffs the front desk and public areas of the EcoCenter during the hours that the center is open. This person acts as the face of Swaner by greeting and assisting guests and orienting visitors to the EcoCenter and Preserve. The EcoHost will engage guests, answer questions, lead tours, facilitate interpretive nature programs for guests, and attend to the general upkeep of the EcoCenter and exhibits. They will also help with traveling exhibits hosted in the space, special events, and youth education as needed.This position is part-time (7-15 hrs/week) and hours may regularly fall on weekends and occasionally on evenings.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:Open and close EcoCenter, including all register, gift shop, building, and event dutiesFacilitate interpretive nature programmingLead nature walks & Snowshoe toursEngage guests with information about the EcoCenter, the Preserve, and membershipsAssist in gift shop operations, including sales, inventory, and display appearanceAnswer general phone calls and direct to Swaner Staff as neededGreet and log daily EcoCenter guestsRun climbing wall while following all safety measuresMaintain a clean and organized building and exterior, including sweeping floors and deck, occasional litter pick up, organizing flyers, and other similar dutiesHelp with set-up, tear-down, and hosting of special events held at the EcoCenter as needed. This includes audio-visual equipment set-up and tear-down. This also involves engaging guests at a variety of events such as business meetings, fundraising events, and nature toursFrequent/regular weekend shiftsAssist Swaner's staff and volunteers when neededOthers duties as assigned

Advertised Salary:
Minimum $11.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
