Title: Environmental Chemist
Type: 6 month contract
Location: Woodbridge, VA
Schedule: 7AM-3PM (no weekend work)
Overview:
Our client based in Woodbridge, VA is in need of 2 Environmental Chemists to assist with metals testing using a new ICP-MS, and the training of more junior staff on the method

Responsibilities:
- Uses instrumentation BOD Analyzers, TOC Analyzers, ICP-MS, other basic technical equipment for the determination of microbiological organisms, physical properties, metals, and inorganic and organic chemical constituents;
- Reviews, approves, and enters all resulting data into the LIMS system and all other appropriate databases;
- Reviews and validates the data produced by other analysts in the LIMS;
- Participates in and oversees the preparation of samples for subsequent analysis, including filtration, digestion, and extraction;
- Assists junior staff members on training for ICP-MS and ICP-OES if applicable
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Environmental Sciences
- 2+ years of testing drinking water samples using ICP-MS in an EPA regulated laboratory
- Experience with ICP-MS method development a plus
- Experience using ICP-OES to test wastewater samples a plus
