Title: Scientist II, Cell Biology
Location: Eugene, OR
Duration: 12 Months
Shift/Hours: Mon-Fri from 8am-5pm
Job Description:
Position Summary:
• The Scientist II will be responsible for supporting the development of products and solutions for the detection of cellular targets and functions using fluorescence microscopy.
Responsibilities:
• Support product development activities
• Work with other biologists on a cross-functional team
• Grow and plate cells, stain with fluorescent reagents, and generate image data.
• Annotate images to support development of image analysis algorithms.
• Quantitative analysis of experimental data
• Execute and communicate technical lab work.
• May serve as the technical lead on cross-functional teams.
• Perform tasks independently with guidance.
• Excellent data organizational skills
• Contributes well-considered ideas for new products and improvements to procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
• M.S. Degree in biology, bioengineering or related field, with relevant industrial or academic experience or a B.S. with 2 years of relevant industrial or academic experience.
• Experience or knowledge of multiplex fluorescence microscopy
• Working knowledge of fluorescence microscopy, and quantitative imaging and data analysis (e.g., ImageJ)
• Familiarity with diverse sample types and processing methods, including adherent and suspension cell lines and protein detection workflows (western blotting)
• Demonstrated ability to work alongside scientists and engineers in a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have):
• Experience in image annotation for the development of machine learning algorithms
• Previous industrial product development experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experimental design, execution, and data analysis.
