This position will provide city leaders with critical insights and recommendations regarding the full spectrum of science, technology, and infrastructure programs related to climate, to more effectively align our efforts to help meet the administration's goals for addressing climate change.

Coordinates with the mayor's office and city departments regarding community partnerships and relationships related to the city's strategic initiatives on climate. Serves as community partnership manager with businesses, organizations, governmental agencies, universities and research entities, and other organizations focused on climate to expedite Boise's actions towards mitigation and adaption to the impacts of climate change. Engages with the community, a team of strategic initiative managers, and department team members to support the city's climate goals. Works with stakeholders on the development of new approaches to expand and expedite climate solutions. Coordinates with city staff on identifying and pursuing federal and state funding and policy opportunities related to climate change and natural resource management. Work is performed under general policy direction with wide latitude to achieve objectives.

This position is designated as At-Will.

Encourages collaboration between the city and external partners to advance mutually beneficial initiatives related to climate action. Builds and maintains positive relationships with community partners, including businesses and organizations, to support efforts in adopting climate mitigation and resilience measures, advancing climate-related research, and expanding climate entrepreneurship and economic development opportunities. (40%)

Researches, analyzes, and develops recommendations for tactics, tools, and policies to address climate change. Pays particular attention to policies at the federal level. Provides a strategic perspective on policy through reports, briefings, and presentations summarizing key elements of analysis and recommendations to the Mayor and the Climate Action division. Seeks to solve problems and create innovative ideas related to climate through collaborative teamwork internally and in the community. (20%)

Supports the implementation of the Climate Action Roadmap. Establishes and keeps accurate timelines and records regarding priorities, goals, projects, and outcomes for strategic initiatives related to stakeholder relationships on climate. Supports key internal roles from city departments and Mayor's office that focuses on coordinating programs, projects, and/or special assignments. In collaboration with city staff, advises and updates key city leaders on opportunities and challenges that affect the city's climate goals. (20%)

Seeks to solve problems, creates innovative ideas through collaborative teamwork from all government and community levels to ensure the best program recommendations come before the Mayor. Monitors and applies for climate-related grants and federal funding opportunities as well as identify philanthropic opportunities for climate work. Develops and helps maintain positive working relationships with the community, business organizations, residents, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies. (20%)

Job Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Functional knowledge of principles and practices of successful business relationship management; general business office and telephone etiquette, equipment, and procedures; computer operations including contemporary and related software applications; record-keeping and filing practices; general customer service techniques.

Ability to utilize excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking; develop ideas from concept through implementation using group facilitation skills; read, interpret and apply complex rules, regulations, policies and procedures; compile, develop and organize data and information into clear and concise written reports; analyze information, identify alternatives, and develop conclusions; plan, organize, and implement special assignments; prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously and independently in a high stress environment; utilize change management methods; demonstrate proficiency in written communication including spelling, grammar and punctuation; operate a computer with demonstrated proficiency using contemporary and related database, word processing, and spreadsheet software applications at an appropriate level for efficient job performance; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Such knowledge, skills and abilities as would generally be achieved through a Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, various science-based curricula, public policy, public administration, environmental engineering or closely related field and four years of experience and or any combination of training and experience equivalent. All relevant experience and education will be considered.

Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Five years or more work experience in project management, and a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local policy pertaining to sustainability and climate action.

Effective coalition-building and negotiation skills with a proven record of bringing together a diverse set of stakeholders to agree upon collaborative decisions and strategy implementation.

Functional knowledge of general sustainability and climate policy and key issues;

Licensing And Other Requirements

Valid state-issued driver's license
