Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Scientist for employment in the Midland, Michigan office.
This position is expected to begin in June 2021.

About DCS-Environment
With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM's global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals - to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Collecting, organizing, and evaluating data from manufacturing facilities for waste characterization and assistance in regulatory applicability under aggressive timelines.
- Evaluating chemical components and their characteristics captured in SDS documents and knowledge from process engineers and plant resources.
- Conducting environmental field work in an industrial setting including sampling and coordination of waste streams, process, and wastewater samples in accordance with chain of custody procedures and laboratory requirements.
- Supporting project tasks including data analysis, metric reporting, and report preparation.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies, Geology, Hydrology, or related science
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Specifically strong in Excel)
- Must meet requirements for entry into client chemical manufacturing facility including: passing substance abuse testing and participate in random drug testing program
- Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong chemistry understanding
- Detail oriented and self disciplined
- Ability to work well in a project team and a fast-paced environment
- Aptitude for conducting and coordinating field activities within an industrial setting
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
- OSHA 8-hour HAZWOPER Supervisor Training
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, specifically RCRA
- Environmental field work experience (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.)
- Experience within chemical manufacturing facilities
