Job Title: Environmental Specialist I
Job Location: Richmond, VA
Job Duration: 7 Months+ (High possibility of extension/ conversion)
Local Candidates Only - Would like a candidate from the Richmond area.
Remote work until approximately July 1 Leadership is evaluating timeline.
Education Required: Bachelors Degree
Top Skills Needed:
- DOT Experience/Waste Management Experience - Knowledge of DOT Regulations for Shipment
- Detail Oriented, Communication Skills
Top Nice to Have Skills:
- Knowledge of RCRA - Resource Conservation Recovery Act
- Familiarity with SAP
Ideal background/Previous Industries:
- Waste Management, Transportation, Regulatory industry
Additional Qualifications:
Basic, working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations for waste management. Basic written and oral communication skills.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic logic and reasoning skills, to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternatives, conclusions, or approaches.
Basic, respectful assertiveness, to ensure environmental compliance requirements are met by others, while considering the spirit and letter of the law. -
Basic interpersonal skills, to interface with internal stakeholders effectively. Ability to work under established policies and procedures.
Ability to meet set schedules and system or program requirements. Ability to give full attention to others, to take time understanding the points being made, and to ask questions.
Ability to assist in preparing compliance and regulatory documents and reports.
Ability to assist with analysis and record keeping.
Ability to embrace collaborative problem solving.
Ability to communicate appropriately for audience needs.
Ability to share information. Ability to facilitate open idea exchange. Ability to adapt actions. - Ability to remain professional while delivering high-quality, reliable, environmental services to customers.
Assists with hazardous and non-hazardous shipping manifests, data analysis, data management, report preparation, invoicing, and purchase order management.
Assists in projects related to waste minimization, solid waste management or similar environmental programs.
Assists with problem analysis and developing compliance strategies. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
