My client is expanding and seeks a Director to take on the following tasks:
* Provide direction and leadership to a team of cancer biologists focused on expanding the DNA Damage Response platform
* Develop the overall strategy for deploying the DDR platform to advance the drug discovery pipeline
* Lead a team of scientists in the design, development, and implementation of robust enzyme- and cell-based assays to characterize the effects of lead compounds on DDR pathways
* Oversee the generation and analysis of high-quality experimental data to identify and confirm the mechanism of action of lead compounds
* Guide new DDR target identification and validation activities, including CRISPR-based synthetic lethal screens, both internally and through external service providers
* Collect, analyze, and summarize data for presentations, reports, publications, and patents
* Interact cross-functionally and provide scientific leadership on preclinical project teams
* Maintain an up-to-date understanding of new technologies and relevant scientific advances in cancer and DDR biology from literature, scientific meetings, and professional network
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
* PhD and extensive experience in DDR biology and small molecule drug discovery
* Hands-on experience with enzyme- and cell-based assays typically used to study DDR biology, DNA repair, and replication stress
* Knowledge of the current therapeutic landscape and target opportunities in the DDR space
* Demonstrated ability to mentor and manage team of cancer biologists
* Experience performing and interpreting CRISPR-based synthetic lethal screens
* Experience managing external scientific collaborations
