The Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC) is seeking a Senior Staff Scientist with strong command of molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, in vitro and in vivo disease modeling and pharmacology. This role will support target discovery and validation based on our human genetics findings in neurological and associated disorders. The ideal candidate will have the scientific and technical expertise to lead a group within RGC Biology and the activities and collaborations across the RGC & R&D organization.

A typical day would include:

* Identifying and implementing novel areas, technologies and approaches to conduct research on new human genetic targets for neurological disorders and advancement of associated, new therapeutic hypotheses.

* In vitro engineering of reporter cell lines for characterization of disease-related processes such as autophagy, proteasome function, protein aggregation, lysosomal dysfunction

* Providing timely updates & communications on scientific progress within the RGC and across different functions.

This role may be for you if you:

* Have a proven capability to independently design and perform sophisticated in vitro and in vivo studies in neurobiology with specific emphasis in neurodegeneration and aging-mediated neuronal dysfunction.

* You are an independent thinker able to excel in a fast-track environment while leading and coordinating multiple projects in a highly collaborative fashion.

* A strong scientific record, excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

To be considered for this role you must possess a PhD with a minimum of 10 years' experience including postdoctoral training. Experience with animal disease models for discovery, target validation and characterization in the area of neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation and the broader area of neurological disorders. Demonstrated ability for independent thinking, and to lead projects in a highly collaborative manner. Excellent problem-solving skills with a results-driven approach to scientific advancements.
