We are seeking a Research Manager to manage a newly established, NIH-sponsored longitudinal cohort study. The study will investigate risk factors for kidney injury and disease among youth in Nicaragua, a region heavily affected by an epidemic of chronic kidney disease of unknown etiology (CKDu). The incumbent will support the establishment and day-to-day operations of this new study through regular communication with the core Boston University-based team as well as the field team in Nicaragua and other domestic and international collaborators. The Research Manager will lead protocol development and daily operations in the core areas: study logistics and operations in Nicaragua; data acquisition protocols at BU and in the field; data management; specimen collection, shipping and storage; development and coordination of study materials, documentation and protocols; and management of budgets and subawards, including vendor payment and support. This individual may support students who are conducting data analysis and supervise undergraduate students conducting data cleaning. The Research Manager may lead data analyses and manuscript preparation and participate in grant writing per the skills of the individual hired. The Research Manager will be expected to coordinate regular meetings and interface between study investigators, research staff, students, and other professionals (e.g. laboratory staff, vendors, IRB staff) as needed, with a high level of interpersonal skill and flexibility. Our research team is interdisciplinary, including epidemiologists, biostatisticians, physicians and environmental health scientists, and this position will play a key role in the establishment and progress of this exciting new study.
