The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of tumor biology, protein biochemistry, molecular biology and assay development and have worked with animal tumor model systems (preferably both implantable and transgenic). Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Responsibilities may include (i) analysis of the ISR in anti-tumor immunity (ii) development of small molecule inhibitors of ISR targets and (iii) analysis of the metastatic process using CRISPR screens.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to have training and career development, including mentoring on grant writing, career advice, networking and attendance and presentations national and international scientific meetings and symposia.
The Koumenis lab is a highly collaborative group and well-funded by NIH and industry grants. Over the years, we have made significant contributions in this area (see Ye et al., EMBOJ 2010; Hart et al., J Clin. Invest. 2012; Dey et al., J Clin. Invest. 2015; Brady et al., PLoS Biol., 2017; Tameire et al., Nature Cell Biol., 2019). Competitive salary and benefits will be provided.
