Environmental Analyst

Job Description
Our government client is in need of a Environmental Analyst . Please see below for all details:

Payrate: $25.00 per hour

Location : Houston, Texas 77040 (may rotate working remotely)

Work Schedule: M-F; 8 - 5 pm

Under supervision from the Planning Director, the Environmental Analyst performs a variety of professional environmental and urban planning assignments which may involve compiling, researching, analyzing and evaluating data related to HUD environmental review such as, environmental hazards, noise, floodplain review, historical commission consultation, land use trends and other NEPA areas.

• Conducts environmental review analysis for the HUD Entitlement Program and Disaster Recovery Program, including technical reports and special projects.
• Reviews environmental review records (ERR) for accuracy and compliance with Federal and State requirements.
• Attends and participates in meetings/conference calls with subject experts and consultation groups.
• Maintains ERR management data spreadsheets and coordinates with consultants and other staff on file status.
• Coordinates ERR submission to the State for approval and processes and tracks any requests for information from the State or HUD.
• Knowledge of GIS and mapping system is desirable, but not required.
• Maintains an effective working relationship and responds to requests for information from other agency staff, organizations, and the general public.

Skills Required

• Knowledge of general planning principles, demographics, research, and or environmental science.
• Ability to multi-tasking in fast-paced work environment and comfortable working to meet tight deadlines
• Advanced proficiency in computer software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
• Excellent communication, written and analytical skills.
• Experience in GIS Mapping

Work Experience Required

One year of experience in urban planning, environmental science or related field.

Education Required

• Bachelor's degree with a major in Environmental Science, Urban or Regional Planning, Engineering, Geography or related subject.
• A Master's degree in Planning or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience.
