WuXi AppTec is a leading global pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and medical device open-access capability and technology platform with global operations. We're seeking a Assistant Director for our In-Vitro Biology group located in Cranbury, NJ.

  • Self- Motivated, requires minimal supervision and determines next steps with minimal guidance
  • Performs preliminary lab work independently.
  • Maintains research notebooks in a well-organized manner. All necessary documentation is recorded.
  • Complies with all safety rules, practices good housekeeping, and maintains safe workplace without supervision.
  • Develops new methods or assays based on minimal information or protocols.
  • Makes logical suggestions of likely causes of problems and independently suggests solutions.
  • Adept in operating semi-automated liquid dispensers, plate readers, and other lab instruments
  • Performs routine calculations, tabulates, and records results. Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy of work.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage other scientist and associates.
  • Has expert skills in any of the following areas:
  • Must possess prior experience in quantitative workflow development and/or proteomics technology development (LC-MS; ideally on TSQ Altis QQQ, and/or ABSciex 6600+ Triple TOF, Orbitraps)
  • Must be able to prepare samples from tissues, cells, and biofluids as needed to enable quantitative workflows for drug discovery programs
  • Prior experience in PTM analysis (phosphorylation and ubiquitination) and targeted proteomics
  • Experience with MaxQuant, Skyline and Tracefinder, Protein Pilot, Proteome Discoverer is a plus
  • Must be able to maintain UPLC/Mass spec for routine operations
  • Biochemical assays including determination of steady-state kinetic parameters and elucidation of inhibitor/binder mechanism of action.
  • Experience with high-throughput screening (HTS) and small-molecule drug discovery is preferred.
Works on assignments with a diverse team of scientists to facilitate all aspects of performing high-throughput screening and running an HTS laboratoryMakes decisions based on an understanding of client program goals.Communicates frequently with client and provide frequent update reports

Experience / Education
  • Minimum: PhD + 10 or MS degree + 12 or BS degree + 14 years experience in Proteomics, Mass Spectrometry, biophysics and/or plate-based assay development and biological sciences or related field

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Records experimental procedures and results in notebook

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
  • Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / Chemicals (List specific Chemicals)
  • Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facilityMust be able to wear appropriate PPE
