Part-Time Recurring (Year-Round), Not Benefit Eligible

Pay: Starting range between $16.88 - 24.47 per hour

The City of Eagan is hiring a Painting Instructor for the Eagan Art House!

Instructor for the Eagan Art House art education program. Responsible for planning and implementing visual art education curriculum for all skill levels, ages 11 - through adult. This is a new position with potential for growth at the Eagan Art House.

This is a recurring variable hour position. Hours vary may include daytime, evening, and weekend hours, not to exceed 25 per week. There are no benefits associated with this position.

The Eagan Art House team is highly collaborative and committed to creative engagement for all ages throughout the community.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
  • Enthusiastically engage students in the process of art creation.
  • Develop and implement visual art curriculum for ages 11 through adult.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of visual art techniques, materials, and processes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of artists, artwork styles and art history.
  • Understanding of different perspectives relating to artists and art education.
  • Ability to provide hands on demonstrations to students.
  • Ability to adapt curriculum to meet student needs.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and sense of curiosity.
  • Exceptional ability to be flexible in a variety of settings.


ADDITIONAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
  • Work cooperatively with other Eagan Art House team members.
  • Assist in promotion of classes.
  • Represent Eagan Art House at community events
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree or coursework leading to a degree in art or art education or equivalent experience in art or art education.
  • 2 years of experience developing age-appropriate curriculum for adults and/or teens
  • 2 years of experience teaching visual arts to adults and/or teens in a classroom or workshop setting.
  • Available to teach evenings and weekends.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Actively creates artwork independently.
  • Experience working within a municipal or non-profit environment.
  • Ability to use various technologies to expand accessibility.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sit, stand, talk, write, hear. Occasionally required to lift/move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally must climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, run, walk. Adequate vision to perform the essential functions of the job.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Mostly indoor conditions with some occasional outdoor conditions.
  • Variety of spaces that may require moving tables, chairs and equipment.
