Jensen Hughes is seeking an Associate Engineer or Scientist to join our Environmental Group in our Baltimore, MD office or in the greater Washington, DC area.   • Identifies applicable laws and regulations to reference in evaluating how to respond to inquiries.
  • Conducts and documents assigned work such as review of local, State, Federal or foreign government environment, safety or health laws and regulations.
  • Performs basic calculations in a spreadsheet as assigned, such as air emissions .
  • Assesses environmental, safety and health risks posed by chemical compositions and makes recommendations to manage those risks.
  • Identifies candidate alternative materials for a variety of products and applications to lessen the impact on the environment, safety or health.
  • Composes technical letters and reports to address specific technical concepts as may be needed by assigned tasks.
  • Submits progress reports to Project Managers and Project Leaders.
  • Effectively communicates with project team members, clients and others.

  • 1 or more years experience with a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or higher in engineering or science from an accredited college or university.
  • Familiarity with U.S. military or government operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering or scientific principles and practices. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Possess intermediate-level written and oral communication skills to write reports, business correspondence, presentations and procedure manuals, and to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and the general public.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Responsible self-starter with problem solving and reasoning skills.
  • Possess intermediate-level personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Expected to travel locally once per month and overnight 2-4 times per year on average.
  • Demonstrated writing sample- be prepared to present written reports, articles or similar.
