Company Overview

At CRISPR Therapeutics, we are focused on developing transformative gene-based medicines for serious human diseases. We are rapidly translating our specific, efficient, and versatile CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing platform into therapies to treat hemoglobinopathies, cancer, diabetes, and other diseases. Our multi-disciplinary team of world-class researchers and drug developers works every day to translate our CRISPR/Cas9 technology into breakthrough human therapeutics. Our lead program targeting the blood diseases β-thalassemia and sickle cell disease has entered clinical testing, and our immuno-oncology programs, focused on CRISPR/Cas9-edited allogeneic CAR-T cell therapies, have the potential to deliver a new generation of cancer therapies to patients.

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented Computational Biologist/Bioinformatics Scientist to tackle challenging biological problems and work collaboratively with research groups to build the tools, algorithms, and pipelines required to support the development of transformative CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing therapies.

  • Develop and implement computational biology tools and software to support gene editing and research activities
  • Generate and test hypotheses on genome-scale data using analytical and statistical methods
  • Work in close collaboration with cell/molecular biologists; contribute to the collaboration by performing computational analyses to inform experimental design, answer biological questions, and guide decision-making for therapeutic programs
  • Balance integration and extension of existing bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing (NGS) tools with the creation of new tools and algorithms as needed for various projects
  • Author research and regulatory reports to support IND and BLA filings

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in quantitative or basic science (computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or applied science preferred); M.S. graduates with exceptional track record and 6+ years of relevant work experience will also be considered
  • Demonstrated record of developing computational pipelines to analyze bulk and/or single-cell sequencing data (e.g. DNA-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq)
  • Experience creating biological interpretation of NGS analyses and putting results into the context of diseases such as oncology and its related sequencing databases (TCGA, CCLE, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Python is essential; familiarity with other languages such as C++, R, and MATLAB is also helpful
  • Ability to work independently and successfully in a matrix environment, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, integrate cross-functional issues and balance competing priorities effectively
  • A high degree of energy, accuracy and attention to detail, and a passion for creating transformative gene-based medicines for patients with serious diseases

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in biotech or pharmaceutical setting
  • Demonstrated record of authoring research and regulatory reports to support IND and BLA filings
  • Experience analyzing gene-editing data (on-target, off-target, translocation)
  • Familiarity with sequencing platforms (Illumina, 10x Genomics) and NGS library preparation methods
  • Proficiency with statistical and/or machine learning methods
  • Proficiency with handling large-scale genomic data in a Linux and/or cloud environment (e.g. AWS, DNAnexus)
