EDGE is seeking a motivated Environmental Geologist to support environmental due diligence, compliance, permitting, site investigation, and remediation efforts for our clients in the Oil and Gas, Chemical, and Manufacturing industries. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, dynamic environmental engineering consulting firm in our HOUSTON, TX office. The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of environmental assessments. The candidate will be expected to perform non-routine tasks on multiple projects simultaneously, including conducting field assessments/investigations and preparing concise, technical reports. With a balance of field and office work, applicants must be motivated, detail-oriented, organized, effective communicators and client-service oriented. In addition the candidate must be a team player with a strong focus on the production of a quality work product, and have a willingness to learn, and travel (up to 25% overnight travel).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Will work under the supervision of a Professional Geologist (P.G.)
Help coordinate and conduct field investigations and sampling efforts
Collect soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment samples
Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
Assist with the development of SPCC Plans and SWPPP
Provide technical and administrative support on a variety of projects, including assisting with regulatory research, data collection and analysis, and the preparation and review of various technical documents
Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments

REQUIREMENTS:

B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related discipline (M.S. preferred)
3-5 years of relevant work experience
Previous OSHA training (40-hour HAZWOPER) and hazardous waste handling experience is preferred, but not required. Candidate must be able to perform field work with exposure to a variety of climatic conditions and potential exposure to hazardous materials and wastes
Environmental project experience in multimedia site investigations
Working knowledge of federal environmental regulations including CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, OSHA and State regulations
Functional knowledge of soil science, GPS technology, and map interpretation (e.g., NWI, USGS, aerial photography)
Comprehensive knowledge and familiarity with the use of MS Office Suite software programs is necessary
Self-motivated, quick learning, flexible individuals who have a common-sense approach to conducting business and workload management will be most successful
Leadership potential and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to balance multiple projects at a time under tight schedule constraints
