SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Microbiology Supervisor, the Microbiology Laboratory Technician I supports daily laboratory operation and is responsible for performing sterility testing, biological indicator testing, bioburden testing, water testing, bacteriostatic and fungi stasis testing and prepares and performs environmental monitoring of controlled areas and other applicable duties.

Under the direct supervision of the Microbiology Supervisor, the Microbiology Laboratory Technician I supports daily laboratory operation and is responsible for performing sterility testing, biological indicator testing, bioburden testing, water testing, bacteriostatic and fungi stasis testing and prepares and performs environmental monitoring of controlled areas and other applicable duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Documents routine procedures following laboratory and company guidelines (SOPs).
- Sample plant water systems for chemistry and microbiology testing.
- Perform bioburden testing on plant water systems, raw materials, in-process products, and components.
- Perform bacterial endotoxin testing (BET) on plant water systems, components, and process validations.
- Perform sterility testing of finished products.
- Conduct environmental monitoring in sterility suite.
- Formulate microbiological media for use in laboratory.
- Perform growth promotion and negative control release testing on laboratory media.
- Perform particulate testing utilizing Light Obscuration Method (HIAC).
- Operate autoclave for routine sterilization of laboratory supplies and media.
- Assist with studies and/or protocols under supervision of the Microbiology Lab Supervisor or Microbiologists.
- Perform data entry of microbiology and environmental monitoring data.
- Perform Bacteriostatic/Fungi stasis (B/F) validation.
- Perform Biological Indicator Testing (BI) to support validation.
- Depyrogenate Glassware for endotoxin testing.
- Wash glassware and supplies used in laboratory.
