Job Description:
  • Provide support, coordination, and implementation of site environmental, health, safety, and security regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support and coordination to ensure site compliance with all EPA, ADEM, OSHA, and DHS rules, regulations, and training requirements.
  • Support and provide guidance to plant staff on interpreting and complying with existing and proposed safety and security regulations.
  • Aid in the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Programs based on current OSHA standards.
  • Provide support to ensure site's covered areas comply with OSHA's Process Safety Management Standard as well as EPA's Risk Management Plan Rule.
  • Advise managers on safe work practices and the elimination of environmental hazards.
  • Provide guidance and support in incident, near miss, and chemical spill/release investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with site Health and Safety Programs and Emergency Response Plans.
  • Aid in gathering data and completing regulatory EHSS reporting requirements for local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Coordinate Employee Safety Champion Rewards and Recognition Program to award safe behaviors and work habits.
  • Track EHSS training for all plant & DC employees, schedule and conduct makeup training for those delinquent.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and conduct training on selected EHSS topics.
  • Conduct safety orientation training for new and temporary employees and contractors.
  • Research and recommend safety equipment and solutions, solicit quotes, and procure equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct EHS audits of designated plant departments to identify unsafe conditions and environmental hazards.
  • Conduct weekly, documented inspections of site safety equipment, hazardous waste accumulation area, and warehouse storage racking for deficiencies and areas of improvement.
  • Review completed Life Critical Permits (Safe Work, LOTO, Hot Work, Line Break, & Confined Space Entry) and coach writer on deficiencies/areas of improvement.
  • Aid in monitoring and ensuring compliance with proper accumulation, labeling, handling, manifesting, and disposal of hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste generated on site.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education & Special Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of related environmental, health, & safety work experience in a manufacturing and/or construction environment.
  • Relevant experience with EPA, ADEM, OSHA, & DHS regulations.
  • Working knowledge of federal environmental (EPA), health and safety (OSHA), and security (DHS) legislation.
  • Working knowledge of chemical engineering would be an advantage.
  • Ability to identify areas for safety improvement in production processes.
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Proficient using company software and MS Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
