JOB DESCRIPTION
Assists and supports department and plant management in achieving safety and business objectives including: safety design process program including machine and process risk assessment and new/modified equipment safety release, contractor safety program including contractor auditing and education, new hire safety orientation including providing training for newly hired teammates. Promote and support the facilities line driven safety process. Coordinate the fire prevention program including routine inspections/ testing and issuance of hot work permits. Also assists with new equipment safety releases, industrial hygiene air sampling and noise monitoring, OSHA recordkeeping as well as teammate training and orientation. Provides advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to employee health and safety. Maintains and analyzes records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies
Employee/ Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the wellbeing of employees including: Developing and implementing policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace
Identifying potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions
Investigating accidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence Providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to employee heath and safety Maintaining and analyzing records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads projects or processes of diverse scope, while working independently with limited supervision
- Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals
- Supports continuous improvement/automation activities
- Uses advanced analytical/technical problem solving to develop new solutions to existing problems/procedures
- Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required bachelors degree in safety & health or relevant field and 2-3 years of relevant experience.
