What you'll doThe Senior Cell Biologist will serve as technical lead and resource for the cell culture media development team. The position will focus on development of cell culture media products in support of the bioprocess and vaccine industries, and related application studies.
- Lead the execution of media development and related projects.
- Responsible for the design of experimental plans and study execution.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare reports for internal and external purposes.
- Support and mentor associates in ensuring procedures meet the company needs and results are appropriately interpreted.
- Maintain lab notebook and training in accordance with relevant Cytiva standards and other applicable standards.
- Conduct applications studies to generate data in support of Cytiva products.
- Evaluate and develop new methods and technologies for cell culture R&D needs.
- Stay current on state-of-the art cell culture technologies and advances in the development of biological drugs, vaccines, and gene therapy processes.
- Participate and lead project-based and technical team meetings to identify and solve problems, guide work towards project goals, communicate on-going work and progress, and plan forward thinking strategies.
Who you are
- PhD in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with 5+ years hands-on industry experience in viral vector (AAV, LV) production, cell culture process development and/or manufacturing within a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company.
- Track record of working with industry relevant cell lines (e.g., CHO, HEK293, Vero, BHK).
- Design of Experiments (DoE) experience and solid skills in statistical design and analysis.
- Demonstrated technical writing abilities: reports, presentations and posters.
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with transient transfection and viral vector production (AAV, LV).
- Experience with multiple cell culture systems (microcarriers, perfusion, deep well plate cultures) and bioreactors.
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and interact well with colleagues, vendors, contractors, scientific advisors, and staff at all levels.
- Highly organized with excellent analytical, documentation and multi-tasking skills.
U.S. (Country) Specific Qualifications:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time
• Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background
