This position works with the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to plan, direct, and implement Cantel Medical's environmental, health, and safety programs across the HuFriedyGroup segment operations in Chicago, Illinois. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for coordinating, leading, and implementing compliance projects and programs. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations and industry standards. The position may interface with all levels of company employees, vendors, and regulatory agencies as needed.

  • Provide guidance with the day to day implementation of EHS programs while serving as a resource for employee and business questions.
  • Ensure environmental, chemical, and machinery related compliance to OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate data collection for EHS compliance programs and develop program documentation in accordance with chemical, environmental, and safety compliance standards within manufacturing environments.
  • Facilitate EHS training activities as necessary, including training development and presentations.
  • Lead safety incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action identification, and follow through for documentation in online incident reporting system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Required Bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering, EHS, or related field.
  • Required 2-5 years of safety-related experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of EHS regulations and industry standards (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ANSI), specifically as they relate to chemical, environmental, and machinery compliance.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, together with strong organizational skills, prioritization and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to adapt to setbacks, adversity and diversity.
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Work cross functionally to fully engage employees, contractors and vendors into EHS programs, expectations, and requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of time, which will primarily include travel between Chicago based facilities.
