The Environmental Supervisor has direct responsibility for the Environmental Management System and Environmental Compliance for the Morgan Advanced Materials Augusta location. They develop and ensure implementation of the organization's Environmental plan against the environmental aspects on Morgan's EHS Framework and local, state and federal regulations. The Environmental Supervisor ensures that employees are trained in the proper response to environmental hazards and the company's environmental programs, oversees environmental audits and interacts with regulatory agencies to file for permits, interpretation of regulations and resolving regulatory issues.

Summary

Under the direction of the EHS Director, The Environmental Supervisor supports the EHS team in the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of environmental programs, ensuring compliance with all company, federal, state and local regulations and policies pertaining to environmental compliance.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Include the following:

  • Maintain a current GA Industrial Wastewater Operator license through continuing education
  • Maintain Visible Emission Evaluator certifications
  • Monitor the operation of the on-site treatment plant ensuring compliance with the NPDES permit
  • Supervise and coach wastewater treatment hourly plant operators
  • Plan, organize, schedule, and conduct environmental inspections of the facility, work areas, equipment and contractor areas, per air, water, storm water and waste regulations
  • Manage daily recycling and waste disposal activities, including proper handling and disposal
  • Help prepare SOPs, OPLs, checklists, and other documents, as needed
  • Monitor site conditions, practices and procedures and recommend improvements and/or corrective actions
  • Verify countermeasures taken to address any identified environmental issues have been completed and assist EHS Director to determine effectiveness of actions taken
  • Maintain environmental files in accordance with requirements and document retention policy
  • Follow all state and federal regulatory requirements applicable to the company for permitting, reporting, monitoring, and recordkeeping for Title V, NPDES, SARA Title III, Groundwater, Strom Water, SPCC and RCRA.
  • Assist with managing the ISO 14001 system
  • Develop and provide basic environmental training to employees as needed
  • Manage special waste, including recycled materials and lab packs.
  • Compile and complete internal & regulatory reports for environmental regulator programs
  • Act as company regulatory contact for the EPA and Georgia EPD
  • Provide regulatory guidance to the manufacturing units
  • Participate as Morgan EHS Audit team member, as needed
  • Complete regulatory reports such as MRDs, GWUR, TRI, Tier II, Title V, emission inventory, and coordinate payment of applicable fees, permit renewals and coordinate testing events.
  • Other duties as assigned


    • Minimum Associate's degree in Environmental Management, chemistry or related discipline; Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or management preferred
    • ISO 14001 Experience
    • GA Industrial Wastewater Operator license

    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods with appropriate breaks.
