Our Laboratory seeks a research technician to assist in ongoing research studies investigating brain structure and physiology of cortical pathways. Experimental approaches include immunohistochemical methods, confocal and electron microscopy. Analyses conducted include digital imaging, quantitative microscopy, data processing and graphic presentation of data. Position entails performing tissue processing, microscopy, and image and data analyses. In addition, major responsibilities include basic wet laboratory and managerial tasks such as making and coordinating solutions and reagents, database management, documents and orders. This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone wishing to be engaged in diverse aspects of the research and to continue to learn in an active neuroscience research environment.

Required Skills
  • A bachelors or master's degree in life sciences, chemistry, or related field, is required
  • The position is funded from NIH grants and a minimum dedication of 2 years is required
  • For highly qualified applicants, looking for more permanent laboratory technician positions, there is potential for growth to be promoted to a Lab Manager position or train to become a Senior Electron Microscopy Technician if desired
  • Social skills and computer proficiency a must
  • Experience with histological procedures, microscopy, and digital image processing desired
  • Salary is dependent on the level of experience
