Position overview:
Work as part of a multi-discipline team including Project Managers, environmental scientists, geologists, chemists, GIS Specialists, GPS surveyors, and health and safety professionals.
Coordinate with field and laboratory- sample planning, bottle orders, sample tracking of Chain of Custody, Sample Delivery Groups, Electronic Data Deliverables, verify sample receipt and proper login at the lab. Conduct pre-work meetings with laboratories with emphasis on deliverable and quality requirements and expectations. Manage laboratory deliverables and schedule.
Perform database queries and generate data tables/reports to be included in regulatory deliverables.
Create boring logs and well construction diagrams using environmental database software.
Perform quality assurance of data management procedures and quality control of analytical database to ensure data integrity and usability.
Content/data management, including proactively identifying and correcting data gaps, errors and relational table issues.
Provide technical support to field sampling teams and act as a liaison between the project staff, analytical laboratory, data validator and GIS analysts.
Provide reporting support by generating and formatting tables, charts or graphs
Prepare regulatory agency EDD data submittals - NJ Hazsite, EPA, NYSDEC.
Perform data entry from field forms into environmental database and/or Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
Current position is part-time (20 to 40 hours/week) with likelihood of transitioning to full time within a year.
Work from home options available.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in chemistry or environmental science and 5 to 10 years of related work experience.
- Experience with and understanding of data generated for environmental investigation/remediation projects.
- Experience using database software (Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, EQuIS) to manage environmental investigation/remediation data. Specifically, experience with the following is required: MS Excel proficiency, and MS Access query and report design.
- Experience with Locus EIM and Earthsoft EQUIS, SQL Server, SQL programming, Visual Basic, Excel Macros preferred.
- Must be able to create queries of analytical data, and format data in excel spreadsheets. Attention to detail a must.
- Data specialist with computer skills in Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of NJDEP, NYSDEC, CERCLA and RCRA regulations a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
- High initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work under pressure within tight schedules.
