DUTIES:

Responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratory courses within the Environmental Engineering Department and in other Engineering Departments as required. The focus areas for teaching are environmental process engineering, energy and sustainability, environmental law, and pollution prevention. The candidate also is required to conduct research and actively collaborate with other programs on campus and off campus research and industrial entities. The candidate also be flexible to teach courses beyond their expertise at times when required. The candidate must be able to mentor undergraduate research students, master's level graduate student and doctoral level graduate students. The candidates will also be responsible to provide academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students and help them in their career and job placement. The candidate also be responsible to actively participate in the ABET accreditation activities of the program. The individual must be able to initiate and sustain sponsored research projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • a PhD in Environmental/Chemical/Civil Engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline
  • excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • a Professional Engineering License or capability to obtain a PE license
  • minimum one year of college level teaching experience

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Able to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Environmental Engineering program and in other engineering programs as required.
  • Able to conduct research independently and able to write competitive research proposals to gain external research funding.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in operating a laboratory that is for teaching and research with sophisticated equipment like GC-MS, ICP-OES, Ion Chromatography, Confocal microscope, surface charge analyzer and other field sampling equipment for air, water, soils and wase
  • field experience in environmental engineering applications
  • proven research background
  • previous collegiate teaching experience
  • Experience with ABET accreditation
