The Scientist (Microbiologist) is responsible to work with a diverse group of scientists engaged in basic and applied research to provide innovative products and solutions for reducing hospital acquired infections and improving the quality of health care.

Responsible for Microbiology and Life-sciences related disciplines performing basic and applied research to provide innovative solutions for reducing hospital acquired infections and improving the quality of health care
Has an academic background and hands on laboratory training in the field of Microbiology or Biological Sciences
Is able to work with a diverse group of scientists engaged in development and commercialization of new antimicrobial and antiseptic products
Understands and consistently follows multi-step documented procedures while conducting laboratory research
Has hands on experience with USP/ISO/ASTM based microbiological testing and performs all testing with strict adherence to the written laboratory work instructions
Has ability to perform USP?71? based Sterility Testing in a Clean Lab Environment
Understands the validation principles for microbiological methods, develops and validates new microbiological test methods, and prepares study reports
Maintains accurate and well-organized laboratory records, notebooks and/or worksheets
Use theoretical knowledge to interpret data and to trouble-shoot experiments
Maintain assigned aspects of the microbiology laboratory work to provide material and technical support to scientific staff
Perform general laboratory duties such as preparing media, reagents and re-stocking supplies, and/or propagating important microbial cultures
With moderate or no supervision, apply comprehensive understanding of defined productivity goals and objectives
Maintain appropriate training/certification including GLP and GMP
Knowledge of FDA regulations for drugs and device desirable
Perform other assigned tasks on as needed basis

Qualifications:

BS in Microbiology or Biological/Biomedical Sciences with relevant laboratory experience in medical device or pharmaceutical R&D environment
Experience of working in a clean room for sterility testing of medical devices and drugs
Demonstrated success in design and development of microbiology protocols to support product registrations
Prior experience with antimicrobial agents, antiseptics, and disinfectants; and associated testing methods
Conversant with GLP/GCP/cGMP and global Drug and Device Development Processes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Organized and self-motivated
