How will you make an impact?
Be part of the genome engineering revolution. This scientist will develop tools and techniques to support genome engineering. This scientist will be expected to work in a highly collaborative team environment, supporting some projects with some supervision of a senior scientist and leading some projects independently. Projects may include, but not be limited to, cloning, purification and characterization of proteins, developing gene editing strategies in various cell lines, and developing assays to monitor editing.
What will you do?
- Protein engineering (experience in improving enzyme function)
- Genomic editing (TALEN and CRISPR based editing, design and implementation)
- Molecular biology:
- Plasmid subcloning, DNA preparations, sequencing, in vitro transcription of RNA, PCR
- Generation of genome engineering tools
- Mammalian cell culture (Culture of many cell types)
- This individual will also be expected to support and participate in R&D and project management meetings.
- Responsible for supporting or executing these plans to meet agreed upon deliverables and timelines
How will you get here?
Education
- Master's in relevant course work with a minimum of 2+ years industry experience
- PhD in cellular biology, molecular biology, immunology or other relevant disciplines (preferred)
Experience
- 3+ years or protein engineering
- 5+ years of experience in molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA/protein)
- 2+ years of experience in mammalian cell culture
- 4+ years of overall research experience
- Protein engineering/design
- Protein biochemistry
- Complicated design and cloning of DNA constructs
- Genome engineering (CRISPR, TALEN, ZFN)
- Mammalian cell culture and transfection
- Engineer/evolve proteins in a high-throughput setting
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Observe deviations from the expected outcomes and trouble-shoot
- Succeed with a moderate level of supervision and guidance
- Design and plan experiments independently
- Participate in a strong teamwork orientation with demonstrable skills
- Maintain a detailed lab notebook and present your findings in a group setting
