We are seeking an individual to work as a Biologist at the National Institutes of Health in Baltimore, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

(1) Perform research activities such as preparation of serum and plasma from whole blood, extraction of compounds from biological matrices, analyze samples using immunoassay and mass spectrometry-based methods, and process data using statistical software.

(2) Conduct experiments in accordance with established protocols and practices using a variety of laboratory equipment and instruments.

(3) Perform routine laboratory upkeep such as storing and disposing of hazardous material, preparing solutions and buffers, cleaning glassware, and creating standard operating procedures

(4) Management of sample inventory such as sample tracking and biospecimen handling (storage, shipment, etc.).

(5) Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory equipment and instruments.

(6) Interpret and adapt guidelines for application to complex laboratory problems.

(7) Assist in presenting information to laboratory personnel and training of users of the core in the methods and instruments used.

(8) Conduct analyses and other reports pertaining to laboratory experiments or other operations.

(9) Training and compliance for working in Biosafety Level 2 lab.

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

(1) Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field. Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a BA/BS degree is equivalent to a master's degree. preferred but not required.

(2) Minimum of two years of experience in biomedical research.

(3) Experience with general wet-lab procedures (pipetting, solvent and buffer preparation, etc.)

(4) Experience with immunoassay methods such as ELISA or with mass spectrometry-based methods.

(5) Experience with statistical analysis using GraphPad Prism, SPSS statistics, MATLAB, R or Excel software is preferred.

(6) Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

(7) Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills along with interpersonal skills to successfully work in a diverse scientific community
