$25/hour depending on experience

Temporary to hire

About the position:

* Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and Saturdays & Sundays as needed.

* The first 3 months are a trial period - (Expect to work Saturdays & Sundays).

* Must be willing to travel. Position requires travel up to 40% of the year.

* Must have Biology/Microbiology and aseptic technique experience.

Job Description:

* We are looking for a bright, energetic and committed professional to work in the food and pharmaceutical industry as a validation specialist/microbiologist.

* The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine microbiological and chemical procedures on food and pharmaceutical products and equipment according to company and standard methods.

Responsibilities include:

* Performing a variety of validation tests and assays in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations including assisting in the preparation of protocols and reports; collection, organization, and analysis of data; and preparation of study results for presentation at meetings.

* The work will involve food and pharmaceutical production which includes retort/autoclave and aseptic processing and packaging lines.

* Microbiological and chemical validation testing to include but not limited to food spoilage analysis, standard plate count, spore count, serial dilution, titration, pH and H2O2 residual testing.

* Knowledge of regulatory testing, evaluation, and validation of low acid food aseptic processing equipment is a plus.

* Understand basic lab instructions and follow microbiology test protocols and standard operating procedures, write up results and summarize data.

Background requirements:

* BS in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science or related field with experience in microbiology and have a good grasp of aseptic techniques.

* Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint software is preferred.
