Job Overview:
Carbon America is seeking an Environmental Engineer to provide evaluation and operational support for geologic sequestration and CO2 EOR projects in multiple phases of development. This position will assist with designing and implementing surface and near surface monitoring plans, technical report preparation as well as project planning and execution for new CO2 sequestration projects. This is a staff position that reports to the Vice President of Carbon Dioxide Storage.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Knowledge and application of surface and near surface monitoring techniques and their associated confidence intervals including soil-gas composition, atmospheric monitoring, and freshwater chemistry and pressure.
  • Understanding of hydrogeologic concepts.
  • Ability to derive technical reports from observations and information collected from the field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using sound engineering principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening skills and those required to interact with a variety of individuals such as regulators, supervisors, and fellow colleagues.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.

Preferred
  • Understanding of drilling and completion operations including coring and logging.
  • Knowledge of geophysical techniques related to tracking and monitoring subsurface plume migration.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Participate in multi-discipline team to identify and optimize CO2 storage locations.
  • Work with third party contractors to develop and implement testing and monitoring plans.
  • Support the preparation and negotiation of various permit applications.

General Requirements and Job Details:
  • Must be able to work at a computer for up to eight hours per day
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • This position is based out of our Arvada, Colorado offices
    • Remote work is available a percentage of the time.
  • This is a Monday through Friday, Full-Time, Exempt position with a salary range of: $65,000 - $90,000.
