About UC Blue Ash

UC Blue Ash is the largest regional college in Ohio and one of the largest colleges at the University of Cincinnati. We are an open access college and offer primarily associate degrees with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students.

The Biology Department at UC Blue Ash invites applicants for our Microbiology Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed). The number of positions varies depending on the needs of the department. Appointments are renewed based on departmental need and teaching performance. Rank and compensation are based on experience and academic credentials. All applicants for this position must be proficient in English, have strong communication skills, and be effective classroom facilitators who enjoy teaching in a culturally diverse, student-centered environment

Job Overview

On a part-time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating, and reporting knowledge to a diverse set of students.

Part-time faculty must be able to teach Microbiology lecture and lab aimed at undergraduate nursing, dental hygiene, allied health and vet tech students. Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook-specific systems; (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students; and (3) participate in at least one professional development workshop per year. All classes may be offered day or evening.

Essential Functions

  • On a part-time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses.
  • May serve as an academic advisor for students and evaluate student coursework.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Required Education

  • Minimum of a master's degree in a biological science field (General Biology, Physiology, Microbiology, or related field).


Required Experience

  • At least one year of teaching experience in a college setting is preferred
