Position Snapshot
Emergency Response Specialists are responsible for coordinating and managing inbound emergency response requests from the initial call to final documentation. This position serves as a liaison between our customers, field operations, and other support groups. Typical response requests range from small to large scale emergency response, industrial spills, highway incident cleanups and complex emergencies involving natural disasters, fires, hazardous materials, etc.

Position Snapshot
Emergency Response Specialists are responsible for coordinating and managing inbound emergency response requests from the initial call to final documentation. This position serves as a liaison between our customers, field operations, and other support groups. Typical response requests range from small to large scale emergency response, industrial spills, highway incident cleanups and complex emergencies involving natural disasters, fires, hazardous materials, etc.
Day in the Life
After booting up your computer and grabbing your favorite morning beverage, you can expect to:
- Receive incoming requests and collect required customer and incident information to properly advance the request;
- Coordinate with response operations and complete required verbal and electronic dispatch steps;
- Ensure response crew arrives on time, performs the appropriate work, utilizes authorized equipment, and providing updates, photos, and other required customer information;
- Provide initial cost estimates and maintain internal cost controls throughout response;
- Maintain communication with field operations and customer throughout response process and document all communications within the US Ecology ticketing system;
- Collect, review, and save all response documentation within the ticketing system;
- Complete required status updates;
- Create emergency response incident reports;
- Evaluate various reports and follow up on open requests; and
- Maintain customer and internal Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) that measure our success.
What you need to apply
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- 1-5 year's environmental field response experience; emphasis on emergency spill response cleanup experience preferred;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to a variety of customer needs;
- Knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and other applicable regulations, typically gained through 5 or more years of experience in spill management, waste disposal, emergency response or a related field;
- Ability to work a rotating schedule of day and night shifts;
- Knowledge of the MS Office Suite with proficiency using Excel; and
- Bi-lingual preferred but not required.
