Performing a variety of laboratory processing and banking services on biological specimens including cells, fluid, nucleic acid, and tissue.
Data formatting and preparing of electronic manifests for loading sample and clinical data into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database.
Specimen receipt, registration, processing, storage location assignment, verification and general tracking using LIMS database.
Maintaining accurate inventory of samples and associated information in the LIMS database.
Performing and accurately documenting the disposal of samples.
Processing biospecimen orders including the receipt / handling of human specimens, querying LIMS through to final delivery of samples to customers.
Participating in routine lab maintenance.
Understanding and adhering to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, operating procedures, GxP compliance and best practices for quality assurance.
Previous Work Experience:
Working knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelors degree in Biology or Chemistry or a closely related field, and some lab experience.
Analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
Excellent organizational skills, be able to communicate effectively, and enjoy working in a team setting.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
Familiarity with biobanking, molecular biology techniques, and/or laboratory automation are preferred, but not required.
Strong computer skills, facile with email, MS Word, Excel and experience working with large databases
