Job Title: Sr Director, Environmental Health and Safety
Location: United States of America; Coralville, Iowa - Mobile (On-Site/Work from Home Hybrid)
On-Site presence for 25-50% of the time estimated.

Global travel is required and estimated to be between 20-30%.
Purpose statement: The Sr. Director of EHS plans, directs, and implements environmental, health and safety (EH&S) programs to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and identify and resolve EH&S program gaps and deficiencies and has global responsibility for developing EH&S management strategies and directing EH&S resources across IDT. The scope of this role covers 5 Manufacturing Sites (Coralville, IA; San Diego, CA; Raleigh, NC; Leuven, Belgium and Singapore), Regional Sales, Research, Service & Warehouse facilities, and 2,000 Associates, inclusive of ~150 field-based associates.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, and implements an EH&S management strategy, programs, policies and procedures for IDT globally.
- Ensures full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements. Ensures that standard work exists for the management and preparation and submission of environmental reports in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
- Assists leadership in assessing EH&S-related business risks and establishing annual EH&S targets for the manufacturing, research & development and sales office locations. Analyzes performance, sets strategies, and leads development and implementation of action plans for year over year improvement.
- Provides oversight for the various worker's compensation programs.
- Leads a global, facility EH&S review process to help management detect accident/health hazards and determine corrective or preventative measures and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented and are producing the desired results.
- Provides leadership in the investigation of serious accidents and injuries and ensures that local resources fully cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Compiles and submits Global KPIs & Stats on EH&S events and provides updates on the progress towards targets, on site activities, and any agency/regulatory inspections/violations.
- Participates in capital and operating budget setting activities.
- Assesses and cost-effectively manages EH&S-related risks with the long-term objective to eliminate hazards and further reduce risk across our global operations.
- Uses Danaher Business Systems (DBS) methods to embed EH&S best practices into daily management.
- Ensures that the EH&S team globally remains up-to-date and conversant with relevant laws, regulations and other statutory requirements that impact EH&S across their local areas of responsibility.
- Coordinates with regulatory agencies, customers and industry groups to ensure that IDT remain at the forefront of trends within the Fuel Solutions industry.
- Manages all OpCo, Danaher and external EH&S audits of IDT Globally (e.g. FM Global), develop action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures promptly and effectively.
- Serves as the IDT Global contact for relevant government agencies, the Danaher point of contact for IDT, and the IDT representative on the Danaher EH&S Operations Leadership Council ("EH&SOLC").
- Provides leadership on EH&S issues, assist IDT top management in understanding business impacts of EH&S issues thereby enabling prudent allocation of resources and decision-making and assist them in identifying and implements corrective measures to improve each site's EH&S performance against goals.
- Acts as mentor to associates with EH&S responsibilities at IDT facilities, evaluates performance and provides input to performance appraisals and skills development plans for these associates.
Relationships
Success in this role is highly dependent on the ability to forge good working relationships with managers and associates within IDT at Danaher and with government agency and customer representatives.

Measures of Performance
- Performance will be measured through progress toward achieving Danaher and IDT EH&S goals, successful implementation of EH&S management program elements through DBS, including effective compliance, audit, training, risk management, and metrics, both leading and lagging, and the presence of competent EH&S staff and optimal resources for the EH&S issues/risks.
Education
- Bachelor's degree required, ideally in science or engineering
- EH&S-related licenses, certifications and/or membership in EH&S professional associations are desired.
Background/Experience
- Proven track record of driving the EH&S agenda in a multi-site, global manufacturing organization required
- Must have broad EH&S experience, including working-level subject matter expertise, project/process leadership and department or functional area management.
- Strong operational and commercial experience required
- Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions (due diligence and integration) and risk and liability management is preferred. Must be able to view issues in a systematic and logical way.
- Preferred experience - Demonstrated experience leading Business Continuity Planning and supervision of BCP team and activities.
- Preferred experience - Demonstrated experience developing sustainability programs including roll out of metrics and programs
