Job Summary
AECOM is looking for an experienced Project Environmental Chemist with risk assessment experience to become an integrated member of AECOM's remediation practice in the Northeast. Responsibilities include:
- Providing support to both the chemistry and risk assessment practice areas within AECOM.
- Performing data validation in accordance with USEPA guidelines and project-specific quality assurance program plans.
- Performing human health risk assessment in accordance with regulatory guidance and project-specific work plans.
- Interfacing with laboratories, external clients, regulators, and internal project teams.
- May oversee, delegate to, and review the work of less experienced scientists.
- Maintaining work quality, quantity, and efficiency at or above company standards.

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM's global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals - to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or other related area (Masters degree a plus);
- 8 years of experience performing human health risk assessments in an environmental consulting setting, with applied knowledge of USEPA risk assessment guidance, MassDEP MCP requirements/regulations, and vapor intrusion assessment.
- 8 years of experience as project chemist, performing data validation in accordance with USEPA National Functional Guidelines, USEPA Region 1 guidelines, and/or Department of Defense Guidelines.
- Experience with FUDSCHEM.
- Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Self-learner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible - can adapt to shifting priorities.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
