Basic Summary

We are seeking a Research Associate I, Microbiology for our Biologics Testing Solutions site located in Malvern, PA. You may be required to work a rotating shift schedule that may require weekend hours.

Assist Supervisor and other scientific staff by working independently on client-specific experimental design, moderately complex professional tasks, report development, quality control, and research.

  • Efficiently organize and plan daily activities, including activities of less senior departmental technicians. Provide technical guidance and training to less experienced technicians.
  • Assist with client communication and project tracking and coordination.
  • Perform a variety of microbiological laboratory experiments, tests and procedures following well-defined techniques and guidelines, including but not limited to:
    • assays for the detection of mycoplasma,
    • bioburden (non-sterile/sterile),
    • phage, various verification and/or qualification testing,
    • environmental monitoring and associated trending and/or contamination control activities.
  • Make detailed observations and accurately and precisely record data.
  • Summarize data for reports; perform simple graphic analysis of data.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent in biology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years bioanalytical research laboratory experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Demonstrated strong technical writing, oral communication and organizational skills desired.
  • Strong computer skills, problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in the use of current software tools utilized in the Microbiology Department.
  • Familiarity with data management required.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
