Our client applies biological methods, approaches, and technologies to address critical biomedical, biodefense, and forensics needs in the defense, intelligence, and homeland protection communities. The client is seeking an experienced, motivated Research Associate to design and execute research and development efforts that support our novel programs in cell biology, molecular biology, and bioengineering. The client has active programs in pathogen sensing, attribution of biological materials, synthetic biology and cellular engineering, and forensic DNA analysis. The position involves working both independently and in project teams alongside experts in molecular, cellular, and synthetic biology, immunology and bioinformatics to achieve project goals. This requisition is for laboratory support for the molecular and cell biology needs of these projects.

Duties include, but not limited to:

Able to apply biological methods, approaches, and technologies to address critical biomedical, and forensics. Seeking an experienced, motivated research associate to work with staff to design and execute research and development efforts that support programs in cell biology, molecular biology, and bioengineering. The position involves working both independently and in project teams alongside experts in molecular, cellular, and synthetic biology, immunology and bioinformatics to achieve project goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be a U.S. citizen with eligibility to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
• Master's degree or Bachelor's degree + 5 years overall experience is required
• Culture and maintenance of mammalian cells in standard and/or novel culture platforms.
• Protein purification (affinity chromatography, ion exchange, gel filtration) using either conventional or FPLC/HPLC methods, and protein analysis (SDS-PAGE).
• Immunological assays and methods (immunoblotting, ELISA, affinity purification)
• Fluorescence activated cell sorting and immunofluorescence
• Automated liquid handling
• Molecular biology, including DNA amplification, purification, cloning, and basic microbiology. Experience with CRISPR planning and assembly desired.
• Applicants should be comfortable with interpretation of results and formatting the output for reporting via presentation or publication
