Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

Department: Operational Compliance

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, monitor, evaluate, and take action to ensure compliance of company facilities' activities with applicable environmental and safety laws and regulations and performs other related work as required.

Primary Functions:
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve hazards and exposures that contribute to the reduction of occupational injury and illness exposures, liability, environmental and property damage expenses.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to user groups such as safety-by-design and EHS practice integration into operations processes.
  • Maintain safety audit policies and ensure audits are conducted, as required, and developing corrective actions for any deficiencies uncovered during audits
  • Collect, collate, validate, and report EHS metrics and performance versus goals
  • Analyze metrics to identify opportunities for improvement amid the key elements to successful EHS management such as regulatory compliance, risk assessment, communication, self-audit, and executive leadership engagement.
  • Monitor EHS performance, injury and illness data, environmental incidents, inspections, environmental monitoring results.
  • Respond to EHS information requests.
  • Assist in the drafting of the EHS portion of the Carbon Disclosure Project reporting and annual Sustainability report.
  • Support EHS communications by developing formal internal and external communications.


  • Required Qualifications:
    • BA/BS degree in Environmental Health and Safety or similar field
    • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience
    • Quick learner, able to manage multiple priorities, and able to manage multiple projects and coordinate resources with precision
    • Self-motivated, well organized, and have strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to build strong relationships with external advisors and businesses leaders
    • Ability to have influence with peers, subordinates and superiors
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and to present and communicate technical information to all levels of the organization and external contacts
    • Demonstrate analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to organize and effectively coordinate multiple and frequently conflicting, concurrent tasks, with good follow-through
    • Ability to balance numerous short-term and long-term responsibilities, including prioritizing same on a day-to-day basis as events require, but also achieving traction on long-term initiatives
    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Some international travel as needed


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of US federal and state regulations pertaining to occupational safety and health and the environment
    • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory systems outside the US
