Description of duties:Incumbent is responsible for day to day operations on the Spirit-of-the-Wild Wildlife Management Area located in Hendry County for the Wildlife and Habitat Management section within the Division of Habitat and Species Conservation. Specific duties include contract oversight and participation in hydrologic and vegetative restoration programs (e.g., prescribed burning), conducting wildlife surveys, assisting with the development and implementation of budgets and annual operational plans, assisting with the development and promotion of both hunting and non-hunting public use programs, and assistance with setting management and restoration objectives consistent with agency and division directives.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Must have knowledge of south Florida ecological communities and the ability to navigate using GPS units and aerial maps. Must have the ability to operate specialized equipment, strong organizational skills, and experience in accurately collecting and organizing field data. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are preferred. This job involves strenuous work in extreme weather conditions typical of south Florida and requires the incumbent to be in good physical condition and able to work outside year-round. Must be able to work as part of a team and must be able to work independently in the field once trained.
