Environmental Safety And Health Specialist
Description
Implement regulatory-based environmental programs through training, surveillance, compliance monitoring and permitting. These services include, but are not limited to: inspections and program audit, maintaining CDC/NIOSH environmental directives, environmental consulting, environmental sampling needed to demonstrate environmental compliance with regulations and CDC requirements, environmental impact statements, records of decision, findings of no significant impact, mitigation action plans, and other related documents. Tasks include:
- Providing water sampling services to fulfill the NIOSH EPA requirements for storm water runoff sewage effluent sampling, submit results for analysis, receive the results and enter results into the Department of Environmental Protection website.
- Providing sampling as the required by air emissions permit.
- Ensuring the annual chemical fume hood/biological safety cabinet certification is completed.
- Ensuring asbestos removal is properly completed.
- Investigating air quality concerns.
- Ensuring hazardous waste, recycling and solid waste programs are properly maintained.
- Ensuring hazardous waste is properly accumulated, inventoried, tagged and maintained for pickup.
- Ensuring proper disposal of Medical and Universal waste, and Ensuring compliance of all training with appropriate regulatory guidelines.

Implement regulatory safety based programs through training, surveillance, compliance monitoring and permitting. These services include, but are not limited to: performing safety evaluations and inspections, providing support operations and facility SARS process support, performing accident/incident investigations and accurately communicating findings, conducting site inspections, and assisting with corrective actions, occurrence reporting, gathering disseminating lessons learned and operating experience information, assisting with development of injury and illness reports, and supporting NIOSH's efforts to maintain any certifications.Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Familiarity with air/noise/water monitors, skilled in usage of same.
- Maintain computer data base of MSDS and HazMat files.
- 2 years of experience in Safety Management, engineer or administrator
- 4 year degree in Safety, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene or comparable field. Requisite experience will be considered in lieu of education with appropriate documentation.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, logs, posting and reporting requirements.
- Background in accident prevention/investigationFamiliarity with Asbestos abatement, recognition and record keeping
- Have to be able to obtain and maintain secret clearance.
