A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT MANAGER

As an Environmental Project Manager, you are the engine of our business. Your hard work ensures that we deliver for our clients. Under the supervision of a senior or principal geologist, you develop the scope of environmental assessment and remediation projects from our diverse portfolio and manage them within budget. You conduct regular field visits to drive project execution and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are being followed. With attention to detail, you review and approve supplier work proposals and invoices.

Your people skills are essential as you interact regularly with local and national clientele as well as regulatory agencies. Though you do spend a lot of time visiting job sites and interacting with people, you also make sure to keep up on all your administrative responsibilities. You write project reports, analyze and interpret data, and prepare summary reports. Ensuring that clients are happy as well as that all jobs are delivered on-time, within the scope, and on-budget gives you a great sense of accomplishment!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT MANAGER
  • 5 years of experience in geological assessments, water supply, water treatment, environmental assessments, contaminant investigation, contaminant remediation, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, permitting projects, or compliance projects in the public and private sectors
  • Consulting experience
  • Experience with underground storage tank (UST) remediation
  • Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and experience interacting with governmental regulatory agencies
  • Ability to become a certified environmental manager (CEM) within one year of hire
  • Ability to travel within the western regional US
  • Relationship-building skills that can help expand our client base

PROJECT MANAGEMENT WORK SCHEDULE
