The responsibilities of this position consist of teaching the range of courses in Biology, including courses in Anatomy & Physiology. This position holds accountability for instruction, student assessment, and evaluation of a diverse student population.

This position involves teaching Biology courses at our campuses in Harrison and Mt. Pleasant, as well as other locations, including the Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District located in Big Rapids, MI, the Huron Intermediate School District in Bad Axe, MI, or the Shepherd School District in Shepherd, MI . The following sections are currently open for the fall 2021 semester:

  • BIO.101.M06A Lecture T 9-11550, Lab TH 9-1050 in Mt. Pleasant
  • BIO.101.M06B Lecture T 9-11550, Lab TH 11-1250 in Mt. Pleasant


This position will remain open until filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by Monday, July 5, 2021 . The College reserves the right to close the recruitment process once a sufficient applicant pool has been identified.

  • Teaches assigned classroom courses.
  • Develops and updates syllabi for courses assigned and ensures course content and requirements meet the requirements of college and accreditation agencies.
  • Develops appropriate assessment tools to determine course effectiveness and assures that student outcomes are achieved.
  • Assesses student academic achievement and provides students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
  • Maintains and reports appropriate classroom records, to include student attendance and grades.
  • Holds appropriate office hours for meeting with and assisting students.
  • Maintains regular communication with full-time and adjunct faculty in the assigned departments(s), and the Library and Learning Services area, and Registrar and Retention Services.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide; serves on college committees as encouraged/assigned.
  • Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives.
  • Adheres to the policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college. Ensures all communications and practices demonstrate support of the Ethics for Teaching Professionals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Education:
    • Master's degree required, preferably in assigned course discipline.

    Experience:
    • One - three years of teaching college level courses in the discipline area strongly preferred.
    • Experience with online instruction preferred.
    • Previous experience in a community college environment preferred.
