WGI is currently seeking an Sr. Environmental Scientist to be part of our Environmental team. You may work out of our Jacksonville, Orlando, or Tampa offices.

In this position you will support environmental assessment and permitting on a wide variety of transportation and land development projects throughout Florida and beyond. This position is for someone who enjoys a diversity of project types. We are seeking someone excited to contribute to WGI's ongoing growth. This is an opportunity for someone who, with the support of senior environmental staff, would like to be WGI's regional environmental lead.

  • Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, planners, surveyors, and others to avoid or minimize environmental impacts and develop a permitting strategy
  • With the support of other senior-level staff, lead the environmental permitting on transportation and land development projects
  • Direct wetland delineations, tree inventories, habitat mapping, listed species surveys, gopher tortoise relocation, submerged resource surveys, and other miscellaneous environmental services
  • Represent clients in meetings with environmental regulatory agencies
  • Assist with business development, preparing scope and fees, and participating in presentations and negotiations for contract pursuits
  • Supervise entry-level and mid-level environmental scientists

  • B.S. (M.S. preferred) in biology, environmental science, or other natural science
  • 10-25 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Florida and Federal permitting rules
  • Prior experience with regulatory agencies (FDEP, WMDs, USACE)
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Florida fauna and flora
  • Ability to delineate wetlands required
  • PWS certification preferred
