About the Position

Wetlands Scientist | Bedford, NH

Responsibilities
  • Performing natural resource surveys including, but not limited to, wetland delineations and functional assessments, vernal pool identification, wildlife habitat evaluations and rare species surveys
  • Preparation of studies and technical reports
  • Development of federal, state and local permit applications
  • Preparation of environmental impact statements and assessments, and planning and zoning studies
  • Conduct environmental monitoring during project construction to ensure permit compliance and prepare inspection reports
  • Maintaining ongoing dialog with clients to keep them apprised of project status, changes in conditions or other key points of information
  • Attendance of municipal meetings to present projects

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Team oriented with strong capability to motivate others
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter
  • Must demonstrate superior ability in collaborative problem solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates
  • Must have strong writing skills and computer literacy is required
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedule and deliverables, and working closely with junior staff.

Qualifications
  • BS in Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science or a directly related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 4+ years of professional environmental consulting experience
  • NH Certified Wetland Scientist preferred
  • Experience in conducting wetland delineations and other natural resource field surveys (vernal pool, wildlife habitat assessments, etc), preferably in the Northeastern US
  • Experience in identifying northeast plant species, soils and natural communities
  • Ability/willingness to work in physically challenging outdoor situations in all types of weather and traveling on a regular basis to project sites located in New England and the surrounding Northeastern US
  • Knowledge of state and federal wetland regulations, land use environmental regulations and environmental permitting is required (NH experience preferred)
